And hello to the Larchmont Farmer’s Market, which is now Wild Beauty’s Pop Up Store new home. The Larchmont Farmers Market is small compared to the other farmer market in size but traffic/people very popular and community supported. I was reluctant to move from Hollywood since it is my comfort zone but sales were declining for the past three weeks. Thanks to Ras aka “The Sage Man” convinced me to give this market a try. I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived about 9:15 am and set up Wild Beauty in front of a store that went out of business. I had more than enough shade provided by the trees and building. So I wasn’t being roasted by the hot summer sun like I was in Hollywood.
While taking out the aroma-therapeutic oils two teenage girls brought their barking dog. They tied the dog up at a bike post and went inside the farmer’s market. THIS DOG CONTINOUSLY BARKED AT EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING, EVEN A LEAF DROPPING FOR 30 STRAIGHT MINUTES.
Many people walked by trying to comfort the dog others told it to be quiet but not harshly. This older man came along and he was clearly fed up with dog barking. He waited for the two teenage girls to come back. He let them know he was not happy. “Is that your dog? You need to work with and train your dog better. People are trying to enjoy the farmers market and their Sunday morning. They don’t want to hear your dog’s barking.” Pretty much along these lines, I had to turn my head to keep from laughing.
Ras aka “The Sage Man” (I have a video about him on You Tube click here.) I buy my sage from him to make Wild Beauty’s Basil Sage and Mint aroma-therapeutic body oil. He arrived 10:30 am. Another vendor, Terry Bass arrived shortly after. He sells Authentic Baller Gear and specializes in Vintage Negro and Cubal League baseball apparel and memorabilia http://www.ballergear.com. He set up his store a couple feet from mine. I went to the farmers market to get some food and made a sale for me. Terry gave me the money and in return I went to Rite Aid and bought him a tea. He’s got a great character.
Here are the highlights of the first week in Larchmont:
Larchmont reminds of the town I lived in growing up in suburban Connecticut. It’s one main street with all the stores, shops and pharmacy. Families coming out to enjoy the beautiful, summer day, it has a small town feel in the heart of a big city. Very charming, unique and outrageously appealing and in two years from now I would like to be blogging about opening a store in Larchmont.
Our newest aroma-therapeutic body oil Rose Bud Black tea goes on Sale September 1, 2011 and a big hit at the Larchmont Farmer’s Market.
Wild Beauty’s pop up store is now located every Sunday at the Larchmont Farmer’s Market on Larchmont next to the Wells Fargo Bank just south of Beverly Blvd from
9:30 am – 3pm.
